What is a Sheepadoodle

A designer breed that is a cross between a purebred Poodle and a purebred Old English Sheepdog (OES).  A sheepadoodle has a lifespan of 12-15 years and considered a healthy crossbreed.

Sheepadoodles are friendly, intelligent, goofy and playful dogs that are typically low-sheding and have a teddy bear appearance.  Very affectionate "Velcro dog" who over flow with personality make them great family pets!    Sheepadoodles are very smart and eager to learn as both parents are working dogs. When properly socialized they are great with children and other animals.  At the end of a busy day get ready to cuddle as Sheepadoodles are on of the best cuddle dogs.  Sheepadoodles often will use their herding instincts by nudging you or other pets emulating herding actions.

With a Poodle mixes like the sheepadoodle are often recommended as hypoallergenic pets, however, no dog can truly claim to be.  Poodles have very little sheding but OES dogs can shed a lot but this line produces fewer allergens.  

The coat is usually soft, curly and requires regular grooming.   Brushing your dog's hair regularly is needed to prevent matting, regular visits to your groomer for shorter hair cuts can reduce your time  

The sheepadoodles coat is excellent in cooler climates like Minnesota, but it can make your dog hot in the summer so keeping the coat shorter will help.

Sheepadoodles form deep bonds with their families, often called velcro dogs because they shadow you everywhere you go in the house.  This bond is so intense they may get anxiety when your not around, to help with this provide training on toys to keep them occupied.

Excellent watchdogs alerting owners of anyone who may be there.  Very keen awareness of their surroundings.  Their calming presence is very therapeutic reducing stress in the household. They constantly seek to show love to the family by cuddling, sitting close, or putting their heads on your lap.

Mini are approximately 16" to 18" H and 20-35lbs

Medium are approximately 19"-22" H and 40-55lbs

Standard are approximately 23-36" H and 55-80lbs
